First, we listen. Our Financial Advisors listen to you tell us about the goals you want to achieve in retirement, and ask prudent questions to help gather the information needed to guide you toward success.

Next, we construct an investment portfolio that is designed to help you meet your goals, taking only as much risk as is necessary to do so. The centerpiece of our approach is our actively-managed mutual fund portfolios, designed by First National Bank's investment team. Our goal is to take the concern as to whether your retirement assets are being invested wisely out of the equation. We seek to:

  • Set an appropriate asset allocation between equity (stock) and fixed income (bond) securities, within the range specified in the investment objective you establish, based on our investment team's outlook on the economy and markets
  • For equity investments, determine appropriate weightings of growth and value styles, large, mid, and small capitalization companies, and domestic and international exposure
  • For fixed income investments, determine an appropriate allocation between government bonds, such as U.S. Treasuries and government agencies, and corporate bonds
  • Evaluate the mutual funds that we place in our portfolios based on performance, internal expenses, and continuity of fund management
  • Rebalance your portfolio periodically to implement any investment changes, and to make sure your asset allocation stays on target

For clients with account relationships less than $50,000, we utilize diversified allocation funds, rather than our managed portfolios, as the primary investment savings vehicle.

Finally, we strive to keep in touch with Retirement Planning Center customers who are invested in our managed portfolios, so we can learn of any changes in your retirement goals and discuss whether your established investment objective continues to be appropriate. Of course, we are available as frequently as necessary to address your retirement concerns.
